"Paha Ska" Gallery
When Paha Ska gave me this postcard at our first meeting he said:
"This was taken when I ate better" and gave me that wry smile..........

PAHA SKA
October 23rd, 1923 - November 10th 2005
This page is dedicated to our dear friend Paha Ska who sadly made "The Journey to the Spirit World" near the end of 2005 after a long illness.
Paha Ska was an accomplished artist and story teller who was well respected both in his own world of the Lakota (Sioux) and equally in the world of the "white man". His works can be found hanging in many homes (including our own) and his commissioned works hang in hotel receptions, office buildings and galleries. If you ever have the oportunity to visit the monument to Crazy Horse in the Black Hills of South Dakota you will find samples of Paha Ska's work hanging in the gallery there. His work can be found for sale on a few sites on the internet, but may I suggest that you first try contacting Susan Salway, Paha Ska's widow. You can email her and enquire about the availability of any of Paha Ska's work.
As you can see here Paha Ska had his own definitive style. He painted on both canvas and animal skins (which I must confess are my favourites). His work on buffalo hides are quite frankly, "breathtaking".
The artworks that we have available here are printed on acid free paper and are 17.5" x 11.5" (445mm x 292mm) approximately. They are really quite special. They are among the last that Paha Ska had printed, signed and numbered on a "very" limited run.
Personally Irene and I had the priviledge of being able to call Paha Ska and his lovely wife Susan "friends". We spent many happy times together, both in his beloved South dakota and here at our home in Scotland. We will miss him..............
